Zum Stück:
In "Male Dances," Voges and Blauenstein devote themselves entirely to the archaic representation of male energy.

The main source of inspiration for the concept of the company "Tanztheater Neger", for the "sculptural dance" of Bonger Voges and just for the new production "Männertänze" is the Germanic mythology. The mythology as a story - where we come from, as a story of origin, story of the elements, finds its implementation in the archaic nature of the stage design, in the use and handling of the objects, the costumes, the mask, the bodies and movements.

The music, with its sounds of nature, voices, meditative and spherical sounds, reflects the expression of masculine archaic forces.

In addition to Germanic mythology, Voges and Blauenstein were particularly inspired by the aesthetics and photography, especially male photography of the 1930s.

To the aggressive, forward warrior rituals, "Männertänze" also shows vulnerability, sensitivity, male sensuality, eroticism, perception.
The fusion of body, colors, light and objects produces something metaphysical, almost spiritual for the viewer.
"Männertänze is written in sperm" says Voges.
